Oh my goodness, this is a delightful story!!! Told thru the eyes of little brother Isaac, who thinks his schoolteacher, Miss Catherine, is perfect for his big brother Simon. But, Simon is too slow moving in pursuing the lovely schoolmarm, to Isaac's way of thinking. Isaac does all he can do to encourage his brother. . . rather nag, hound, cajole, goad . . . to make a move and ask Miss Catherine on a date. Along the way we meet Isaac's friends and other family members. This author's talent lies in bringing characters to life! I feel as if I know these folks now. . non-stop talker, big-hearted, loving Mam, best friend, friendly, loyal Calvin, stuttering, suffering, strong Ruthie, talented, obnoxious Hannah, steady, Godly Dat, gossipy Edna and Esther -- these are a compelling cast that you won't soon forget! I would love a sequel, please!!!
It was a very good book. It was nice to see it written in the boys' perspective and not like an adult is telling the story. I love reading Amish stories! They show you how life is hard but there are lots of ways to have fun do things together with your family. Isach was a very caring boy and wanted to see his older brother married but knew that he was very shy. The brother liked the pretty school teacher but thought he wasn't good enough for her. Isach thought she was perfect for him and he did things to bring the two together. Isach had finely convinced him and he was proceeding in his own way!
Loved this story, Linda is my 2nd best Amish authors. These stories keeps you wanting to find out the ending. I read this book in 3 hrs. I love to read and since I have read a varity of subjects, I have come to enjoy and can put myself in these situations. Linda has some terrific books out there. Please read and enjoy them. The best place to buy is on Amazon.
What can be worse than a mother playing matchmaker??? Well -a younger brother playing matchmaker!!! Issac Stoltzfus thinks that his school teacher Katherine is the best thing ever. Issac tries his best to play matchmaker to his older brother Simon- trying to get him to ask School teacher Catherine out- but Simon is actually pretty shy!!! One of the best and cutest Amish Christmas stories I have ever read!!! Definitely a five star book- from a five star writer!!!
Refreshing read---sat by the fire, had a cocktail, put recliner back a bit and enjoyed. Read it 2 months ago...gonna read it again in few weeks.
Isaac is the youngest of ten children with only Sim at home with him. He tries to get his brother to ask his teacher out but Sim never seems to brave the subject. Finally Isaac gives up on him and concentrates on helping Ruthie with her stutter with two other boys and two girls so she can recite in the Christmas play.
Really good Christmas Amish romance
I enjoy Linda's work, so I was not surprised at the superb story. It is amazing how my English heart was touched by the nostalgia this story evoked.
