Truly appreciate the range of examples, both as homeowners and architects. It’s a great resource for anyone, anywhere, for ideas of any kind. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy; a worthwhile investment.....
This is book is full of those beautiful photos that cause me to pick up home magazines, only to find a blurb describing the space or some airy writing about what inspired the renovation. Hutchison's text goes far deeper and describes each project through the mind and words of an architect. I loved it.
I loved architect Katie Hutchison's first book and now her second, The New Cottage, delivers the same great combination of information and inspiration. I love her 10 design solutions and the way they are visualized throughout the book -- this isn't just a beautiful book to look at, but one that will be very useful for anyone wanting to buy, renovate, or build a cottage--or just to add charm to an existing house with cottage style. Because of the book's broad appeal, I've purchased several copies as gifts for the holidays.

A nicely photographed set of mostly very interesting small houses. There's an unusual amount of attention to the spaces I love, which are little nooks formed out of things like dormers.
