This book is best for the beginner or intermediate software user. The book is easy to read and is without all the heavy jargon that some books have which make software intimidating to some. The book has lots of pictures which makes it easy to learn . In my humble opinion this is the best way to learn a software program.
Actually Access learning is divided into two parts:Part 1 = start from level zero to the end of this book so you end up making good forms but you need to practice and the best website even better than you tube is [...] as they have lovely videos really nice.Part 2= start with Macros then Vbasic then is you already knew access (I mean you are done with access working with it for 6-8 months then buy a book for macros and vbasic not this one)Once again the book is very nice if you are beginner or intermediate level and does guide you through the pictures an that is why it is not made for Advanced level on access 2013.Thank you for the publisher they made a very good job and to Amazon for trust it offers
This book is for introductory to intermediate levels although at times it introduces some more advanced concepts. If you are an IT person this may serve as a refresher but you may not get much out of it. However, if you are starting with Access this is a very good book. I see a lot of business folks getting a lot of use. the book is small and easy to get through. Very visual as the title states and you can easily get through a couple of chapters a day.
Love these "Visually" how to books. Have been using them for years. Quick info, detailed "screen shots". Have them for Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, Windows 7, Windows Vista, AND Windows 10 is on order as I write. Actually quicker than surfing through the Office community pages, and other sources looking for answers from other users or surfing the entire Microsoft website looking for an answer to your question(s). GREAT tools! I highly recommend them all.
Easy to read format, but lacks content. A basic text on the nuts and bolts of working with Access. I miss in the text something more on building data relationships as well as more on forms and reports. But, again this book does not pretend to be anything else than a very readable, basic text (and pics) on Access. As such it deserves 4 stars. If you are looking for a detailed manual, try something else.
I initially found the book, among others at the library. I checked out two including this one. This was the better of the two. I needed a book to quickly teach me how to use Access to develop a quick application for my family business. As I come from a IT background,where I develop using more larger database products (oracle etc), I needed a book that showed,me how to accomplish what I wanted to do, not one that was too heavy on concepts. However with Access, I found I still needed to google up, some answers how to do certain things from other experienced users. It seems no book, or manual provides a comprehensive list.When the library would not allow me to renew it, as someone else wanted it too. I decided to buy my own copy.
I don't know how I was so ignorant of the availability of books like this on Kindle (available through Amazon). I bought the soft-cover book having decided I would like to learn how to use Microsoft Access to create a personal database. Same time decided to "try-out" Kindle's version. It is great working with this using two window frames (side-by-side) one displaying Kindle's book and the other doing my own notes. Now I've got to learn if I can do this on my Samsung Tablet so I can take my studies (and readings) everywhere I go....
I had to migrate to a new database since the old one I was using was no longer supported. I chose Access. This book definitely helped me get started. The index is comprehensive & the mode of presentation works very well for me. Though not exactly a beginner, I would not consider myself an expert. This book was perfect.
