If you hate reading 5-10 pages of a case brief in order to get one rule of law, this book is for you! I'm the type of person who just needs the facts, so when I'm reading a case brief all I'm thinking is, "get to the point!" or "how many words are you going to use in order to tell me that it had to be a material breach?" If that is you, or if you are having problems understanding the point of the case brief and how it fits into the big picture, trust me this book is for you. I've tried several others and they don't compare. BTW these books are set up to mirror (keyed) your case books so make sure you get the right one.
I got this because it was keyed to Dukeminier, but found it was also keyed to other textbooks as well. It is arranged purely in an outline format and I found it helpful for review. Most of the cases my class studied were covered by this outline. I will say, however, that I probably would have gone with the Gilbert's if I had to do it again- I had to borrow my classmates version when I came to a few of the stickier areas of the law. The Gilberts was more of a summary of the restatement, which just seemed to work better for my particular course.I think the utility of this outline will vary professor by professor. As mine noted: always be careful with commercial outlines. They can be wrong or inadequate. I didn't find anything that was outright incorrect, but there were areas where I felt treatment was lacking in specificity.I found that the Flashcards, made by the same company, were actually more useful. You can stare at an outline all you want, but you need to learn how to apply these rules in new situations. Your coursework and self-prepared outline should get you to the point where you know the law but mastering it requires practice and repetition.In short, this is a fine study aid, but there are better ones out there. Don't just buy it because everyone else has a supplement - think about what your professor emphasizes in class and find a supplement that will complement it well. All in all, I think flash cards are the most effective study aid.
This helped a lot in my Contracts class for understanding some of the tougher concepts. It comes with questions after each section that are useful for review. I would use this as a supplement to making your own outline. If I could do it over again, I would have gotten this book before I even started the class.
I am a fourth year law student, so I have used many different books, summaries, and outlines at this point. The Emanuel Criminal Procedure book is comparable to other outlines in this series, as well as others. It is not only all inclusive as far as teaching you everything you need to know about this class, but also has the summary pages that go far in helping you to formulate an accurate outline for the class. This is a good law class summary and I intend to buy more.
You can't count on this as your main source. That, unfortunately, will have to be your casebook. But it is solid. It has all the same common law principles, rules, elements, etc. that are in your casebook. Therefore, you can use it in conjunction with your casebook, but likely will not be detailed enough, unless your professor is not the typical cruel and devious property professor.So get it. It is safe and likely at least as useful as another commercial outline on the same subject.
The format and organization scheme used in the Crunchtime series is second to none. First off, you get flowcharts for the areas of law most tested on the bar exam and law school exams. For example, you get detailed analysis of Contract Formation issues, Parol Evidence issues, and Mistake issues, just to name a few.Second they have exam tips for each of those areas. These typically include the areas that are easy to test, or generally tested, because of the inherent issues in those topics.Other than that, you get multiple choice and short answer practice, as well as essay practice. Great start-to-finish book for studying / cramming for Contracts.
Thank God I do not need this anymore but If you are a first year law student and you need a professional outline for cramming, then this is a good one.It will mostly mirror your first year K class and be complete. Be careful to make your own outline - and use this to supplement your own and study for your finals. I would not recommend you try to pass Contracts class and do well with just this.They do an exceptional job of condensing for a commercial K outline though. I do not think you will find a better series for what it is.
Very cheaply made. Recycled paper, very flimsy. Ordered twice and both items came all bent up. Just got a refund and ordered the Kindle version. Gave up on getting a quality hard copy. Also, because law school requires a lot of highlighting, I wondered how the thin, light brown recycled pages would react to heavy highlighting.
